Kurar Village- literally a village 25 years ago, has now turned into a crowded, congested slum of Mumbai. The locality has gone on pressing outwards, on the hills at the back. A typical example of urban poverty. People here cannot afford expensive healthcare services available in surrounding area. In 1991 MLDT began to serve the patients of the Kurar Village and nearby areas at charitable rates through Mahavir Hospital and Maternity Home.
Mahavir Hospital was catering exclusively to maternity and general medical services when the MLDT took it over. The Trust decided to expand its services – and additional facilities such as Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Surgery and General Medicine were created. Today, the MLD Centre at Malad has completed a quarter of a century.
It has its future charted out to take affordable and quality Homoeopathy and Medical Services to the vast community still unreached by Care.
